The Naked Truth
This body of work follows the raw and intimate journey of Jane, a dear friend and fierce advocate, who invited me to document her experience with breast cancer from the moment of diagnosis. Through hospital corridors, surgery rooms, the quiet ritual of shaving her head, and the visible toll of chemotherapy, this documentary series captures the unflinching reality of illness — but also the quiet power of resilience, humour, vulnerability, and grace.
Photographed over many months, these images formed the backbone of Jane’s self-published book The Naked Truth About Breast Cancer — a resource created to demystify the experience for other women facing similar battles. In doing so, Jane transformed her private pain into a public gift.
Jane lost her life to cancer in 2024, but her legacy endures in every woman she helped to feel seen, informed, and less alone. This work stands as both a tribute and a testimony — a reminder of the strength found in truth, and the enduring power of sharing our stories.
